Currently Reading

I love to read! Favorites are fantasy and historical fiction, but I never limit myself to those categories. I've recently discovered I like urban fantasy/vampire/paranormal stuff, too. Read anything good lately? Message me your recommendations!

Find my books on Goodreads.

Blog Give-a-ways, etc.

Don't forget to check out MissyAnn's (Melissa) 13 Days of Halloween Give-a-way! She makes the most amazing stuff. I confess that I am so jealous of her talents. This giveaway starts October 19th!

And Thats All I Have to Say About That

  1. A pretty good weekend

11/02/09 08:54:33 | 2 People who also have something to say

So, maybe something can be salvaged from this football season after all. My Vols, looking rather bad-assed in their black just-for-Halloween jerseys, actually whipped South Carolina on Saturday. Anytime Tennessee beats a Spurrier-coached team, it's a good day. I despise the man, but I digress. When they can do it amidst a rather lack-luster season, it's a high point! Feelin' the Big Orange love right now.

And yesterday, my Titans resurrected themselves. Yeah, I'm...
  2. Diva's Downer

10/31/09 07:47:34 | 2 People who also have something to say

Diva's high school volleyball team lost yesterday in the finals of the state tournament, which makes them State Runner-up for the third year in a row. The girls are really devastated. I think it will take them a while to bounce back. While the team that defeated them is an excellent team, our Lady Irish beat themselves with so many more unforced errors than they typically make. They just did not play like themselves, and I think that will haunt them for quite a while. I just hope they...
  3. Not much stitchin' goin' on

10/29/09 10:33:17 | 1 People who also have something to say

Life has been quite busy in the Panther household this past week. On the heels of the cheerleading championship, Diva's high school volleyball team began their participation in the state tournament as the #1 seeded team in the East/Middle Tennessee bracket. They've done really well. Tonight they play in the semi-finals. The finals are tomorrow. Since the state tournament is a day to day thing, there have been lots of last minute plans and adjustments to life in order to get everyone...
  4. OMFG!

10/22/09 07:24:08 | 5 People who also have something to say

WE WON!!! My cheerleaders freakin' won 1st place in the parochial league cheerleading competition.
I am still somewhat giddy with the excitement! Their performances were unbelievable. I expected them to place, but really didn't think we'd win. Sometimes the results are skewed by diocesan politics and our school is not well liked in the diocese because our students win a lot of stuff. But, it has been 11 years since we've won this...
  5. After tomorrow, you are free

10/21/09 07:30:25 | 1 People who also have something to say

Tonight is cheer competition, so after I tell you how we did, you don't have to hear about it anymore for my competition coaching exploits will be over. For the basketball cheerleading season, I become strictly a glorified babysitter - a much more relaxed situation for me.

I just finished burning the two copies of our music we have to provide to the competition organizers. I need to pick up the sandwich trays which should be ready in 30 minutes. The girls are all coming to my...

Fibers

I am collecting Rainbow Gallery's Petite Treasure Braid (I prefer it to Kreinik). Colors I need: 36, 37, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 50, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 64, 67, 201.

I am slowly becoming a fan of WDW and GAST. I have a very small collection, so any additions are welcome!

I also like Gloriana silks - so yummy!

Other Stitching
I bead as well as stitch, so fun beads of any type are fun to have. Delicas are my favorite seed bead. I like fun glass beads of all types!

Hobby Lobby stopped carrying the needles I like. John James Petites - I use mostly 28's and 26's, but I do like the 24's for pearl and metallic fibers. I also use the #10 beading needle A LOT!

Fabric
I stitch mostly on linen (NO Permin or Wichelt linens), but I like lugana, too. Jobelan and Jubilee don't work as well for me. As for color, I like hand dyeds and neutral solids. Country Stitch fabrics are my favorite hand dyeds.

As for non-stitchy things, I am an avid reader of fantasy and historical fiction. This is my Amazon wishlist. I do keep it up to date for books and DVDs. I love faeries and chocolate (esp. dark).
