So, maybe something can be salvaged from this football season after all. My Vols, looking rather bad-assed in their black just-for-Halloween jerseys, actually whipped South Carolina on Saturday. Anytime Tennessee beats a Spurrier-coached team, it's a good day. I despise the man, but I digress. When they can do it amidst a rather lack-luster season, it's a high point! Diva's high school volleyball team lost yesterday in the finals of the state tournament, which makes them State Runner-up for the third year in a row. The girls are really devastated. I think it will take them a while to bounce back. While the team that defeated them is an excellent team, our Lady Irish beat themselves with so many more unforced errors than they typically make. They just did not play like themselves, and I think that will haunt them for quite a while. I just hope they... -

Life has been quite busy in the Panther household this past week. On the heels of the cheerleading championship, Diva's high school volleyball team began their participation in the state tournament as the #1 seeded team in the East/Middle Tennessee bracket. They've done really well. Tonight they play in the semi-finals. The finals are tomorrow. Since the state tournament is a day to day thing, there have been lots of last minute plans and adjustments to life in order to get everyone... -

WE WON!!! My cheerleaders freakin' won 1st place in the parochial league cheerleading competition.
I am still somewhat giddy with the excitement! Their performances were unbelievable. I expected them to place, but really didn't think we'd win. Sometimes the results are skewed by diocesan politics and our school is not well liked in the diocese because our students win a lot of stuff. But, it has been 11 years since we've won this... -

Tonight is cheer competition, so after I tell you how we did, you don't have to hear about it anymore for my competition coaching exploits will be over. For the basketball cheerleading season, I become strictly a glorified babysitter - a much more relaxed situation for me.
